Faber Daeufer & Itrato recently announced the addition of Maria Bergenhem to the firm’s emerging company/venture capital (ECVC) practice. “Maria brings substantial experience advising early-stage companies across all areas of their development, including formation, financing, corporate governance, and day-to-day legal/administrative matters,” said Faber Principal Ken Itrato. “We are excited for Maria to utilize her skills and leverage her experience to provide thoughtful counsel to our early-stage clients, all in a way that significantly enhances their client service experience.”
Prior to joining Faber, Bergenhem did similar work as part of her former firm’s technologies group. “I advised startup companies across industries (including life sciences, software, fintech, edtech and cleantech) on their corporate and financing matters from formation through exit,” she said. “As part of that work, I worked on many debt and equity financings throughout my clients’ life cycles.”
Bergenhem said that Faber’s combination of clientele and culture drew her to the firm. “My prior firm did not have a dedicated life sciences group, but I have always been interested in the practice area and highly motivated to support companies in the space as they work to improve and/or save lives,” she continued, “I had heard great things about Faber, both as being a great place to work, and as being a trusted advisor to clients, offering uniquely thoughtful counsel to life science companies.”
Faber’s commitment to philanthropy also influenced Bergenhem’s decision. “I saw this as a terrific benefit and something I could be very proud of should I get the privilege to work at Faber.” She also noted that the firm’s extraordinary commitment to professional development and cultivation of a collaborative work environment left an impression as well. “I really enjoyed meeting with everyone during my interviews and that really sold me on the firm – I’m excited to continue developing my practice at Faber.”
